New Voices In Jazz #1

The Crescent Arts Centre hosts a one-off performance of contemporary jazz by three of Ireland’s most prominent young jazz musicians:
David Lyttle - drums
Mark McKnight - guitar
Cormac O’Brien - bass
N.I. drummer/ composer David Lyttle has studied at the Banff Centre Jazz Workshop (Canada) and Skidmore Jazz Institute (NY). As well as performing with leading Irish players, he has studied or performed with international artists such as Greg Osby, Dave Douglas, Curtis Fuller, Ralph Peterson and Ari Hoenig.

Belfast Guitarist Mark McKnight is a recent graduate of Berklee College of Music, Boston. Whilst attending the college Mark studied with many of the world’s foremost jazz educators and received awards in recognition of outstanding musicianship.

Bassist Cormac O’Brien is a key figure on the Dublin jazz scene. He is a graduate of Newpark Music School under Ronan Guilfoyle and has studied with Dave Liebman, Steve Coleman and Jean Toussaint. Cormac regularly performs with leading Irish musicians Mike Nielsen and Tommy Halferty as well as visiting artists such as Bobby Watson.
