A night of swinging contemporary jazz at the Crescent Arts Centre featuring prominent young Irish musicians Mark McKnight (guitar), Joel Byrne-McCullough (guitar), Cormac O’Brien (bass) and Dvaid Lyttle (drums).
Belfast guitarist Mark Knight is a recent graduate of Berklee College of Music, Boston. Whilst attending the college he studiedwith many of the world’s foremost jazz educators and received numerous awards. Recent highlights include a tour with the RTE BigBand and Irish dates with Konrad Wiszniewski (GB) and David Smith (NYC). Joel Byrne McCullough has been a key figure on the Belfast jazz scene since his return from studies at Newcastle College. Currently performing with leading northern players such as Linley Hamilton, he has also worked with prominent visiting British musicians Bobby Wellins and Jacqui Dankworth. Dublin bassist Cormac O’Brien is a graduate of Newpark Music School under Ronan Guilfoyle and has studied with Dave Liebman, Steve Coleman and Jean Toussaint.. Cormac regularly works with notable Irish musicians Louis Stewart, Tommy Halferty, Kai Big Band and visiting artists just as Bobby Watson. Drummer David Lyttle has studied at the Banf Centre (Cananda), Skidmore Jazz Institute (NY) and has received private tuiton in NYC with leading drummers such as Jeff ”Tain” Watts. He has performed alongside Irish guitarists Louis Stewart and Mike Nielsen, British singer Jacqui Dankworth and NYC players Jamie Baum, David Smith and Carlo DeRosa among others.
