The Ulster Youth Jazz Orchestra was formed in 1993 after a series of courses held by Ken Jordan at the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast. The interest at these courses was so strong that 45 students wished to carry on and form a band on a more regular basis. The orchestra has developed greatly through the years, it toured England, France Austria and Holland and also won the prestigious Bass Arts Award in 1997.
