Singing Circle: Songs from America **

Explore ‘Americana’ – folk and traditional songs. For people who enjoy
singing as part of a group, whether you’re new to singing or just want to try
some new songs. You don’t need to read music, and you don’t have to sing
solo. Songs will include some harmonies. An optional practice CD will also

Life Drawing *
with Dr Mary Cosgrove
Saturday 6 June • 10.30am-4.30pm • £25/£20
A daylong life drawing workshop with one model and one pose. An
opportunity to complete a painting and/or make many drawings from
different viewpoints. Best suited for experienced painters but all levels
welcome.
La Révolution Française: 1789-1799 *
with Annick Grall
Saturday 13 June • 2pm-4pm • £13/£11 (workshop in French)
An insight into the events which did away with the feudal system and radically
changed French society. Following a presentation, we will discuss the
international context in which it took place, the triggering of the
revolutionary movement and the following growth of capitalism. Would such
a revolution be conceivable at the present time?
Page to Stage: Major Playwrights of the
20th Century: Arthur Miller *
with Rosie Pelan

One of the most significant American writers of the 20th century. Discuss
his influences, from Greek Tragedy to Ibsen and examine major themes and
ideas, including loyalty, conscience & capitalism as embodied in the ‘American
Dream’. Perform selected scenes from The Crucibleand Death of a Salesman.
Short Sharp Saturday Life Drawing Course *
with Sharon Kelly

Aimed at encouraging personal expression and developing observational
skills in relation to the figure, this course will cover basic elements of figure
drawing in a supportive and relaxed atmosphere. A basic introduction to life
drawing, or for those who would like a short refresher course.
